/ How can you apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world problems? Our academic service-learning courses bridge the divide between classroom theory and application. Your professors will spend time with you in the classroom to cover theory, and then you’ll move out into the community to put what you’ve learned into practice.

Look for the Community-Engaged (CENG) course designation attribute to find courses with a service-learning component. Be sure to read the syllabus before you register, to confirm that you can meet the community service requirements for the particular course that interests you.
All of our first-year education students participate in the Village Project, an academic service-learning program that strengthens their teaching skills, while providing underrepresented youth in Green Bay, Wis., with academic support and positive role models.
SNC’s co-curricular service-learning programs are designed to complement what you learn in the classroom. They’ll push you to try something new and get involved in communities where you can truly connect with your classmates — and contribute in meaningful ways.

Want to spend your spring break vacation improving the lives of others? TRIPS offers service trips that focus on specific issues, so whether your passion is the environment, affordable housing, homelessness, animal welfare, children’s healthcare or education, you can use your SNC education to help those in need.
Each year some of our graduates commit to one or more years of post-graduate service in the United States or abroad. Full-time service offers you the chance to share your gifts, experience a new culture, live and work in community, broaden your experience and knowledge of the world, develop your spirituality, tap into your passion, and create a more just and humane world. It is not “a year off,” it is hard work with populations who have great needs.
Post-graduate service can also be a valuable experience for personal growth and exploring future career options. SNC alumni have partnered with programs such as Peace Corps, Jesuit Volunteer Corps and Amigos for Jesus.
