St. Norbert Sweeps Lawrence in NCHA Quarterfinals

DE PERE - St. Norbert College advanced in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Playoffs with a 3-1 win over Lawrence University to sweep the two-game quarterfinal series at Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert (22-4-1) advanced to face Marian University (20-6-1) in a semifinal game at 7 p.m. Saturday Feb. 24 at Cornerstone Community Center. The Green Knights advanced to the semifinal round of the NCHA Playoffs for the 23rd consecutive season.

The Green Knights took the lead when they converted a power-play goal at 14:26 of the first period. Nick LeSage's pass deflected off Dominick Sacco, and the puck went to a charging Roman Uchyn who converted for his eighth goal of the season.

St. Norbert pulled ahead 2-0 at 12:36 of the second period when Sacco leaked out of the neutral zone in a 4-on-4 situation to score on a breakaway for his 10th marker of the year. The Green Knights added another goal when Luke Karakas pounded home a rebound at 14:55, his second goal of the series and third of the season.

Lawrence (10-15-2) scored a power-play goal when Lane King finished unassisted at 14:01 of the third period, but the Vikings would get no closer.

Tyler Andrews scored two assists for the Green Knights, while Sacco's assist also gave him a two-point game.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 30-19. T.J. Black made 18 saves for the Green Knights, while Evan Cline made 27 stops for the Vikings.

St. Norbert was 1-for-4 on the power play, while Lawrence was 1-for-5.
