St. Norbert Finishes 54th in Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

DE PERE - St. Norbert College finished the 2016-17 academic year in 54th place in the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors' Cup standings.

The Green Knights finished with 334.5 points to finish in 54th place, which matches the third-highest total in school history. St. Norbert finished 35th in 2009-10 and 53rd in 2011-12. It's the ninth time in the last 10 years St. Norbert has finished in the top 100 schools nationally.

The Learfield Directors' Cup measures NCAA championship performance in 18 sports (nine men, nine women) and assigns a point total based on finish. Williams College won the Directors' Cup with 1335.25 points.

St. Norbert registered 83 points with men's ice hockey reaching the national semifinals, while women's indoor track registered 54 points with a 20th place finish at the NCAA championship. Men's golf gained 42.5 points by finishing 31st at the NCAA championship.

Baseball, softball, women's tennis, women's basketball, men's soccer and women's volleyball all earned 25 points apiece from their respective NCAA Tournament appearances. Women's outdoor track and field earned five points.

St. Norbert had the best finish among Midwest Conference schools in the Directors' Cup standings in 2016-17, marking the seventh time in the last nine years it has done so.
